ONTARIO POLICE SEIZE M $139 MILLION IN DRUGS IN LARGEST BUSTS

Ontario Provincial Police say they have dismantled a major drug trafficking operation after seizing more than $139 million worth of suspected illegal drugs in what authorities describe as one of the largest drug seizures by weight in the province’s history. The investigation, known as Project Bay, resulted in the recovery of nearly 1.7 tonnes of suspected narcotics and the arrest of multiple individuals linked to the alleged trafficking network.

According to investigators, officers seized large quantities of suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, and opium, along with equipment believed to have been used in the distribution and transportation of illicit drugs. Police allege the operation supplied illegal narcotics across multiple communities in Ontario and involved an organized criminal network operating on a significant scale.

Authorities also recovered 17 firearms during the investigation, including handguns, rifles, and an anti tank rifle, a rare weapon to be seized in a Canadian criminal investigation. Police say the discovery highlights the growing level of firepower associated with organized crime and the risks faced by law enforcement officers during major enforcement operations.

Investigators say Project Bay involved months of surveillance, intelligence gathering, and coordination between multiple police agencies. Charges have been laid against several suspects, while the investigation remains ongoing as officers continue working to identify additional individuals connected to the alleged trafficking network. Police say the seizure has dealt a significant blow to organized crime and prevented a massive quantity of dangerous drugs from reaching communities across Ontario.
