DANIEL TATE TO CHALLENGECHRIS MOISE FOR COUNCIL

Daniel Tate, the executive director of IntegrityTO, has officially announced his candidacy for Toronto City Council, setting up a closely watched contest against incumbent Councillor Chris Moise in Toronto Centre. The race is expected to draw significant attention, as the two have been outspoken critics of one another for years and have frequently clashed over issues involving municipal governance, accountability, and ethics at City Hall.

Tate has built his public profile through IntegrityTO, an organization that advocates for greater transparency, ethical conduct, and accountability within Toronto’s municipal government. Throughout his work, he has regularly scrutinized decisions made by elected officials and has been vocal in calling for stronger oversight and reforms at City Hall.

The rivalry between Tate and Moise has previously led to a formal investigation by Toronto’s Integrity Commissioner. Following a complaint involving an exchange between the two men, the commissioner concluded that Moise had violated the city’s Code of Conduct. However, despite finding that the code had been breached, the commissioner did not recommend that any formal penalty be imposed.
